Özcan Ulucan was born in the city of Shumen (Bulgaria) into a Turkish family where arts and humanism were most admired.
In year 1979, he started his music education with Zdravka and Vesselin Spirov in the same city.
1980 - had his first appearance on stage at the Concert Hall of Shumen Philharmonic Orchestra, in a duo with his pianist sister, Birsen Ulucan.

1982 - won Second Prize at the National Music Competition "S.Obretenov" (Bulgaria).

1984 - moved with his family to the city of Varna and continued his music education in the "D. Hristov" Music Highschool, studying in the class of G. Burova.

1987 - won the First prize and special prize at the international violin competition "J.Kocian" (Czech Republic).
In the same year, he gave a debut-concert with Shumen Philharmonic Orchestra playing Kabalevski Violin concerto.

1989 - Immigration with his family to Turkey due to political pressure.

1989 - continued his music studies at Mimar Sinan University Conservatory in Istanbul.

1993-95 - got a study credit from the Turkish Educational Foundation (TEV) and did his postgraduate studies at Guildhall school of Music and Drama-London in the violin class of Prof. Yfrah Neaman.

1995-98 - did his Master of Music study at Hacettepe University Concervatory with Prof. Viktor Pikaizen.

1998-2000 - Concert Diploma study with Prof. Joshua Epstein at the University of Music, Saarbrücken (Germany).

2000-2004 - completed his studies with a Soloistic Diploma on violin and viola with one of the world's most acomplished soloists - Maxim Vengerov.

2004 - 2006 - joined the Jazz Improvisation sessions as a jazz violinist at the Music Academy Saarbrücken,held by the Jazz pianist Georg Ruby.

Since 2002 Özcan Ulucan played duo concerts with Maxim Vengerov, together with English Chamber Orchestra, Amsterdam Sinfonietta, Vienna Chamber Orchestra, Borusan Philharmonic, Philharmonia Orchestra London in concert halls and cities such as Royal Albert Hall London, Konzerthaus Berlin, Lütfi Kırdar Istanbul, Tel Aviv, Corsica, Wels Festival, Ludwigsburg Festival, and Amsterdam Concertgebouw.
It was a special experience for the artist, to perform for Edison Awards Concert 2004 together with M.Vengerov under the baton of Maestro Mstislav Rostropovich.

2008-Guest at the Istanbul International Music Festival as Soloist of the Presidential Symphony Orchestra, performing A.Adnan Saygun's Violin Concerto.

2008-South Korea Concert Tour as Soloist of Antalya Symphony Orchestra performing Paganini Violin Concerto No2

2009-Concerts in England(Wales-Lower Machen Music Festival)with Edinburgh Quartett and Evgenia Startseva, Germany and Turkey

2010-Concerts in Hungary(Budapest-Obudai Taseskör)with Birsen Ulucan and Richard Rosza,and England(Steyning Music Festival-Evgenia Startseva&Edinburgh Quartett)

2011-Concerts, with Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra,Hezarfen Ensemble,The Presidential Symphony Orchestra.

2011-Guest Artist at the International Istanbul Festival,together with Isabelle van Keulen,Birsen Ulucan,Alisia Margulis and Christian Poltera(Festival Encounters)

Özcan Ulucan currently resides in Istanbul, and gives concerts both as a Violinst and Viola player.  He also teaches at the Istanbul Technical University Conservatory.
